China Makes a ChatGPT Clone, Google Can Add to the Panic!

The success of ChatGPT developed by OpenAI has not only rocked Silicon Valley. Chinese technology giant Baidu is said to be developing a clone of it.

ChatGPT is a conversational robot (chatbot) developed using artificial intelligence technology from OpenAI. The intelligence of this chatbot managed to attract millions of users in just a matter of days.

It could be, this success that makes search engine giant from China, Baidu, trying to make a clone. Reuters reports that Baidu plans to launch an AI chatbot similar to the output system OpenAI.

It is planned that the system will debut in March, quoted on Tuesday (30/1/2023). Previously, Bloomberg reported that Baidu planned to embed its chatbot system in its search service first. Baidu is an internet search platform provider company, or you could say "China's Google".

ChatGP is indeed making the technology industry excited. With a conversation format, ChatGPT can answer any questions. This is what makes a number of world technology giants dizzy. They are trying to make a program similar to ChatGPT.

Microsoft vs Google

Apart from Baidu, there is Google which is also trying to challenge ChatGPT. CEO Sundar Pichai had to enlist the help of two Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to devise a strategy for Google to compete with ChatGPT.

This is because OpenAI has reportedly agreed to a strategic partnership with Microsoft. In fact, Microsoft has committed billions of dollars to OpenAI

Page and Brin's return to Google has been quite remarkable. Remember, Page has rarely managed Google since he was not appointed as CEO in 2015. The last time he was seen was when he was invited by Donald Trump to the White House in 2016.

The New York Times reported that Pichai was confused about ChatGPT. He thinks the system can work better than Google Search.

Page and Brin are reported to have met and held meetings with company officials. They developed a plan and approved the integration of the chatbot feature with Search.
